I will start by listing a word, and then the next person must post a word that is a synonym; the challenge is to change the meaning of the words as much as possible; here's an example: I write Beautiful, the next person writes Lovely, then Nice, Kind, Gentle, Mild, Bland, Plain. See how the first word was Beautiful, and we ended up with Plain, which is the opposite, in just a few words? If you are stuck, go to Wordsmyth.net. Now, here is the first word:
Happy.

Happy and gay are adjectives while mirth is a noun, are you allowed to compare those?
