sure conor is marketable, but if you want to legitimize the sport you don't let someone call the shots just cause they're an influence or bring money, that is not how it works, now if conor had his own promotion legit like Mayweather you could have a point, but his promotion is still 50/50 ufc/him. Also legitimizing the sport would mean giving fights that make sense, you know aldo not getting his rematch, conor having Nate Diaz rematch(but Dana caters to him as I've said earlier) then literally fighting for LW championship while fight 0 LW in the ufc. Trust me I was a conor fan until after the aldo fight when he reached Rhonda's invincibility complex. (Still love his fights just not his on camera personality).
