I have this particular question about Pre BC paladin tanking.Defense Gear or Spell Damage + int gear(t2-t2.5 and some others).I have seen two paladin tanks recently and heard that Paladins with the right gear can tank MC/BWL. I know most of you will tell me to respecc holy and stuff(I am holy). But in case I am going to be tanking something, what should I wear?Should I be def capped or should I be using my spd int plate gear? The specc would be near to http://www.wowprovider.com/?talent=11215875_2_8050501i55c5033530100105004kwith a few changes. I also looked on this blog/guide about paladin tanking and all,its of patch 1.9+ but still helpful : http://paladin-guide.blogspot.in/2006/01/aggro-mechanics-and-tanking.html

For a paladin, there's an even bigger difference in gear for threat/defense. To state the obvious, spell power for threat, defense for dmg mitigation

I know that spell power and int is required to keep up threat but if you are going to be def capped there's no way you have gear that also has spell damage on it thought there is a set with mp5,int and def in scholo. My question is,what should I be wearing?Plate Spell Power Int gear or Def capped gear?

It all depends on what you're gonna be tanking and in which guild. As tankadin is a support spec, you'll never get close to a warrior, so some tanking capabilities is all you bring to the tables besides an extra bop/loh/di etc
I'd take imp judgment for more threat generation. As for gear, if you're in a MC guild, tanking golemagg adds for example shouldn't require more than deathforge gear

Youre never ever gonna be main tanking.. all you should get is tons of spelldmg, some def and tank 5mans, suppression room, fankriss tunnel, kite at gluth.. other then this paladin tanks are useless

^ So much truth. Agree wholeheartedly with this, sadly enough. But pala tanks are really bad in Vanilla.

Go with full SP gear, use cloth items if they have more SP and also use a caster offhand instead of a shield since there are no great SP shields. Trust me, works best in naxx tanking.

you should put some extra points into the Offensive prot talents, instead of Imp Hoj for example... and your Best in slot gear would be the Scholo Tanking set
