Hey guys, you might remember me from my development application I sent in for about a year ago, however, I did not have time to do any development so I withdrew it and turned the offer down.
Anyhow, I'm here again, but not interested in a development position, but instead, very much interested in becoming a in-game game master. So first of all, I can tell you that all of the requirements have been met, and here we go with the application!
Q1. What is your main character's in-game name? My main character is called Bayar.
Q2. What is your real name? My real name is Ryan.
Q3. Where in the world are you located? I got three homes actually, and from time to time I move around. My current position is Vasteras, Sweden, where I've lived since December. I also have a home in London, England, which I will move to in the end of summer. And the third home is in Adelaide, Australia, I have no idea when I will go back there.
Q4. What time zone are you located in? Currently, GMT+1, however my timezone does not restrict me from being online when GMT+1'ers are asleep.
Q5. How old are you? I am 27 years old, which doesn't really mean that I am mature, but thank god, I think I am.
Q6. Have you played Retail and if so, for how long? I have most definately played retail. I started back in the Alpha version of WoW, back in 2003 and I kept playing all the way until WotLK, every expansion after WotLK was just rubbish, and not worh dedicating any time in.
Q7. What times exactly can you GM? (Be specific please : Days/Times etc) Well, since I finished my studies 5 years ago, and work not taking up too much of my freetime, the days that I can GM are not limited. I will be available in-game a couple of times everyday, so I won't miss anything.
Q8. How much time each day do you spend on WoW, on the forums or in-game? On the forums, not so much, if I become GM and actually have something to do on the forums, a bit more. In-game, I spend several hours, not doing anything really because I unlike leveling, even though it's a lot faster here.
Q9. Have you had previous experience as a Game Master? And if so, on what server, and function? Experience as a Game Master is something that I have gathered under the years that have passed. I started off GM'ing on a server called World of Valhall, back in 2008, this server was one of the best I have ever played on, and I turned out to be the co-administrator where I was administrating everywhere really, even the development. The second server that I GM'd on was World of Scriptcraft, back in 2011, here I became the Head GM. There has also been some servers inbetween the ones I already listed, but they're not worth mentioning because I simply was just GM'ing on them, and they closed down pretty fast (non-serious projects).
Q10. Tell us a little about yourself. Well, there's not much to know really, I live a simple life with my wife and my son. I'm originally from Leeds, England where I grew up and went to school. I got into Oxford, where I studied Science for about 4 years. I graduated with a Diploma in Science back in 2010. I work at a company called Dice, where I work with development. Dice is a big company, perhaps you''ve heard of it, they created Battlefield(however this is not a project that I work on). I love to travel, especially to warm countries. I am a Manchester United enthusiast, and will probably never stop supporting that club. I love dogs.
Q11. Explain why you think you would be a good GM. I think I'd be a great asset to the team, I can provide people with the assistance that they require, and I have years of experience that will support that point. I know everything about the whole area, GM'ing, that is.
Q12. What interests you most about the GM position? Honestly, just being lazy, sitting still somewhere, answering tickets, taking it relaxed and easy, listening to some good music and just do what I like doing, help people, make people feel better by solving their problems and making their gameplay a lot easier.
Q13. What positive additions could you (or do you already) make to the server/Community? Currently, I don't do anything for the community, nor the server. I want this to change, because I like you people too much to not do anything for you. I can bring an great asset to the team, I love humour and will most definately bring some onto the table. I will support people in any way that I can, and I will most likely make you a Manchester United enthusiast. :-)
Q14. We require all GM's to act professional at all times, this includes proper spelling and grammar.[We will not accept you if you have a lack of proper spelling and grammar] Proper spelling and grammar shouldn't be an issue, I have sufficient experience speaking and writing english from my earlier years in England and Australia.
Q15. If you were going to submit a suggestion for us, what would it be? Well, when I was leveling my mage I kept blinking through the ground which made me aggrevated, having to ressurect at the spirit healer and having to put out with ressurection sickness. If you could fix that blink, that would be amazing. Another suggestion could be to disable the 'epic donation rewards' that you can acquire, mostly because I am against donation rewards in all ways other than cosmetic items such as tabards and pets/mounts.
Q16. Events can get out of control, how would you pull a situation under control if it went bad? Warnings should be delievered to the people creating the bad situations, if they do not stop, consequences will happen. However, I am not a man that enjoys punishment. If we can all get to an agreement where bad situations will never be created again, we can all just move along.
Q17. What do you think is the most important thing a GM can do? A GM's role is to assist people in-game, answer the tickets submitted and fix the problems that have arisen, nothing more, nothing less.
Q18. Do you know WHAT a gm does? Please explain. I most certainly know what GM does, and I'm pretty sure that I just answered it in the question above. A GM's job is to assist people, help them with their needs and smoothen out the gameplay for the players.
Q19a. What will you do if a Player asked you for help? I would never not agree to help people that needs assistance.
Q19b. And when you don't have time to help him? Time can always be made and help can always be delivered.
Q20. What can you do to help the server grow? I can be a supportive helper in-game, perhaps people will enjoy my assistance, maybe they will tell their friends that VanillaGaming has the best support system in the vanilla world. :-)
All the best to you all Cheers, Fawkes.
