1  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Spike LAGS AQ40 on: Today at 01:32:59 am
Some players in BiS, including myself, experienced a similar lag spike towards the end of our raid last night. Might have been around 5 ST, not sure. Didn't look like anyone was disconnecting or crashing, which would have lead me to believe it was the Halloween candy issue. But instead it was just people lagging out in game, chat not moving, unable to cast abilities etc.

Everyone was talking fine in teamspeak and only maybe 10 or so people were experiencing this weird spike. My ms is normally around 120 but it shot up to around 800 for a few minutes. When I was finally able to hearth back to IF the latency was still high.

For clarification, we were at Ony, not aq40 actually. Not sure if that changes anything.

Another thread taken off topic by people who don't even play on VG anymore, classic.

Obligatory bump and #FreeSorono

I can remove this from my signature soon Smiley

1) This is not a bannable offense.
2) Horde also has those 1 minute, sometimes 1:30 long respawn timers. Some people who play both sides have told me it's more common horde side, but I can't confirm myself. Either way, you were probably losing cus bad.

Honor farming / honor leeching is in fact a bannable offense on VG. Read the rules https://vanillagaming.org/forum/index.php?topic=10073.0

The res timer is just a bug that both factions have to deal with sometimes.

This is actually a valid report for the honor leeching and the gms should give the player a temp ban. It's really frustrating dealing with this in bgs. The res timer bug is irrelevant.

Man Pepe you just keep repeating yourself like a broken record. I am fully aware that you don't have a lot of time. Many of us are in the same boat. But you completely ignored the large majority of my comment and only responded to the single part you didn't like. I provided reasoning why this possibly won't happen as well as an alternative option in the mean time.

+1 to Unspoken imo. All I know about Pepe is that he complains in world chat about how hard vanilla is and that the staff should change everything to go along with x15 xp so the server won't be blizzlike at all. Valid opinion, but why not just go play on a fun server? I won't name names so as to advertise, but I know there's a certain instant 60 server where you can just pvp for fun and get gear through tokens/in game currency instead of rank. This server is basically dedicated towards blizzlike END GAME content. So leveling is sped up in order for people to reach max level faster, but it also provides the option to level at x1 xp. So even if the staff chooses to create this fantasy position with powers, I hope they select someone respectable.

In the mean time, keep pushing pvp and events. I know if it was more active, I would probably participate more. But I personally don't enjoy queuing against/with the same people for hours. It's quite boring and frustrating if you don't have a good team imo.

You seem to have missed my point entirely. But that's ok I guess, let me try again.

I have not ignored your suggestion at all. I fully understand what it is that you want to do and I might add, I support it. Just look at my forum signature. I've been wanting Smoq to be a pvp type GM for months now. So don't get all uppity at me.

From your constant posting and lack of acceptance for other peoples' ideas, it just seems like you want GM powers to have GM powers so you can throw your epeen around. While making nice pvp events for everyone as well ofc.

The point I'm trying to make is that it seems the staff doesn't give power out lightly. Take the fact that Z has been the sole person with power to make changes to the core for so long and that half the staff just recently got permabanned for "GM power abuse." So their screening process for worthy GMs may take a lot longer than you would hope. On the bright side, Erga actually responded to the thread which means they have the idea in the back of their heads now. But he also said,

as soon as you're backed by the community.

Solely pushing your grand idea and seemingly ignoring / refuting other peoples' thoughts is not gonna get you the backing of the community. Just saying. Your agreements to other peoples' ideas are like "yeah that's cool, but really this is what I think and if I had GM powers I could do this." Doing "sporadic" events on a low population server where most people just raid log is a difficult thing to do.

So all in all, I'm simply just playing devil's advocate. I'm not disagreeing with you. My big point is basically - you don't have powers right now so you can't do certain things, but you should work with what you have instead of just furiously posting on the forums about your ideas.

Start with something small if you have to. Create an event. Post rules on the forums. Provide an exact date and time that doesn't conflict with the raiders. Advertise in game. You'd be surprised how many people show up. I know it seems like a lot of work, but if you really want this to become a thing you kinda have to put some effort into it instead of just waiting on the staff to give you powers and complaining that these events can ONLY be done with GM powers. If you just wait on the staff, you could wait years. So take it into your own hands if you really want pvp events. Maybe the staff will recognize that you deserve powers based on the work and organizational skills you have shown them. Smiley

my suggestion is for sporadic events which will require GM powers. say I have the powers to see how many raids are going on on vg and I see 80% of the pop is FREE. I can simply announce in world "PvP event starts in 15. all who are interested in participating meet in SW for A and Org for H to get ported over." BOOM! 15 mins later there is 50vs60 PvP event happening some place in the world.

You don't need GM powers to use the who list. You can also go on to the forums and quickly figure out what days/times guilds raid at. I mean come on, theres only 3 ally raiding guilds and 1 horde. Anyone can announce stuff in world chat. Teleportation isn't required either, that would simply be a perk.

this also applies if I decide to summon some world boss in a major city and announce for 60s to defend or the boss will destroy the entire city. all the 60s doing nothing will get a group going and try to down the boss.

This is a faction based pve event, not pvp. So what are you, a pvp or pve event organizer?

Smoq is right. You don't need GM powers to handle this sort of stuff. Yes, it would probably help. But if you are determined, which judging by the amount of forum posts and debates you have regarding this topic; I think you're dedicated enough, then you can easily just start some sort of event and make it happen.

Instead of continuing to advertise this idea and requesting GM powers or GM help, just create an event and run it. Smoq has already shown you can easily do that. And if you do it with level 60s instead of 19 twinks, there is no where near as much prep time needed. Also, GMs offered additional rewards and assistance to Smoq's event too if I recall. So if you set it all up, they might provide some sort of help.

Stop derailing threads. Have your petty arguments about classic vs vg in another thread. Let's get back to the topic at hand.

If blizzard can release classic wow after all this time, the vg staff can release Sorono!

you're also high. Alliance lose 70-80% of BGs, and I'm being generous, which makes PvP gearing extremely difficult since we get 3x less points per BG. if we win, it's nearly a miracle. and you're Horde. no wonder. you're like a black person laughing at whites telling us what it's like to be white. plz keep playing on your faction and dont tell us how its like for Alliance cuz you have no experience here, and sound like a clueless ignoramus.

http://vanillagaming.org/forum/index.php?topic=18812.0

Don't insult people and call them out when you don't even understand how the honor system works in vanilla. It doesn't even matter if alliance loses all the time. The amount of honor you earn determines your standing within your faction (i.e. Player 1 gets 100k honor, Player 2 gets 80k honor, Player 3 gets 50k honor - Player 1 will receive Standing 1, Player 2 will receive Standing 2 etc.) and you get X amount of "Rank Points" based on your standing. Each rank requires a certain amount of "Rank Points."

I play on alliance so by your logic I'm allowed to tell you what its like for alliance cuz I have experience here. Getting pvp gear in vanilla isn't that difficult. You don't even have to win games, you just need time. The population being low on vg makes it even easier imo because you aren't fighting against as many people for standing and you know when bgs are popping and when they aren't. Literally all you have to do is join wsg.

Back on topic:
Not sure if you can say vg "deserves" higher population. There are a lot of contributing factors to point towards otherwise. Most vanilla players want a blizzlike experience. Which means x1 experience, no cash shop for gear, no vote shop, normalized drop rates, proper progression. Not all, but notice how many people play on Elysium versus other vanilla servers? Trying to add even more unblizzlike aspects is just moving further away from what the majority of players want. That's not a great marketing strategy.

Furthermore, the devs can't even fix 7 year old bugs. Personally, I would rather them fix game breaking bugs than add new little features that offer minimal benefit. There is also FAQ type info in the forums and on the main page of the website.
