Alright... There's probably very few of you that cares about this, but I thought I'd make a post anyway. I'm leaving VG.

It has been a bumpy, but fun ride over these odd twenty~ish months I've been playing here. Memories I'll remember. I've seen a lot of things happen to this place (good and bad), but now I feel, like, I've come to the point where I have no reason to log on anymore.

Timeline:
I started here in January 2013 with my two friends. We joined a guild called <Haze> that was completely unorganized (no CLs, ranks or system). A low-tier guild. Not to sound almighty or anything, but I helped Haze's GM introduce all that stuff to the guild. I was promoted to Warrior CL, and within two weeks he went AWOL leaving me to run the guild on my own...

Skip forward two months of struggling to get MC on farm, AND battling off <inquisitor> and old <Unique> officers trying to steal my guild members, I found two guys (Kinkmaster & Evabraun) who had their own, newly started guild called <Bloodline>. When I spoke to them I found out they had the same problems <Haze> had, so we did a test raid together and managed to clear 9/10 MC!

Immediately after the raid we merged and made a guild called <trauma>. At the time, we had the the fastest raid progress on VG. Going from MC to halfway into AQ40 in just two months, despite several adversities such as lack of gear, new scripts and whatnot. Skip forward (yet again), we ended up being the second best alliance guild, and had all server second kills in Abomination wing (except for Thaddius). We eventually disbanded at the start of 2014, and then I joined <Distilled Wisdom>. Been there since!

Anyway, how do I put this without sounding crass? I am definitely underwhelmed by the state of this server. That's just my personal opinion, which I am entitled to, so I'm not here to debate "facts". The perception I have of this server is expressed in this topic (http://vanillagaming.org/forum/index.php?topic=15602.0).

Some of my reasons for leaving are also personal ones (IRL). And I have other things that have piqued my interest over VG.

A shout out to all the friendly people I met here, and of course my homies: DW!!!  I might drop in sometime to say hello, but that seems highly unlikely at this juncture. So, some of you I will never see again. T'was a pleasure. I'll see you on the other side! Wink

Bye,
Dill

Like I said, I don't want to mention names - no matter if it's about GM's who do a good job, or not. It's a shame, I know. I'd like to tip my hat to the GM's I consider doing their duties well, but... I don't want to get crucified for expressing my opinion.

lol

The ego is big with this guild.. and it's always easier to ignore than answer hard questions. But lets see how consistent you guys will be now when this 'challenge' you think you got is over, or when Corecraft server opens.
What is this "Corecraft" you speak of? You do know that mentioning other servers (twice now) is considered advertising, according to VG rules? Betta check yo self before you wreck yo self, Pagos! You might get banned because of this.
6  Community / General Chat / My "beef" with this server [please don't delete] on: September 02, 2014, 04:12:37 pm
I've played here since January 2013, and I agree that the server has changed in many ways - some for the better, some worse.  This is my take on it:

As an example - when I first started here, the bosses were barely scripted at all, and there wasn't even a suppression room in BWL! There have been many changes to VG since then.

Now, we have a 'Blizzlike' PVP system, the raids are more difficult and the list goes on...

Many of these changes, like I said, have made the server more Blizzlike, but ironically it enough it also made the server worse somehow. Lately, I don't know, for the past couple of months this server just doesn't feel the same anymore. While the bosses are much more difficult now, they are also lacking in quality! The quality of these scripts do not live up to the standard they were set out for; what it intended to be.

All of this is makes raiding very frustrating. People constantly disconnect from the Anti-cheat engine; both when raiding/not raiding. Disconnecting in combat kills you, even though it's not your fault. Other kinds of combat bugs, boss bugs, spell bugs etc.

Then we have the current PVP system, which obviously isn't working at all, on a small populated server like VG. There's a reason it worked in retail and that's because retail servers had a WAY bigger player base… not to mention the cross-realm system, which is a big factor that it worked, that they added sometime in 2006!

Instead, the PVP died off completely here (compared to what it was like before)! When outsiders come here, asking about this place, they don't seem to be as eager to join when they find out that there's little to no PVP activity.

Then there’s the lack of content and communication between the ones in charge and the players. Like, it was rumored back in March that there would be a new Naxxramas wing in summertime, but none of us have heard a word about it. You don’t even tell us what the status is or what the problems you have to deal with are. Lack of content bores people who farm the same stuff week in and week out, which means people stop or leave VG.

Lastly though, and this is personally MY biggest beef with this server, and that is the way this server is being managed. First of all, we have Zeard, the owner. Where did he run off to? No wonder the server is starting to mole when the owner isn't even there to attend to matters. Secondly, we have the Devs/GMs. Now, I don’t want to point fingers because that’s not fair, but partially because of fear of getting banned for merely ‘criticizing’ one or several “authority figure(s)”. That might not be fair of me to those of you who do good work, but you shouldn't feel offended.

Anyway, since when did this server become so sensitive to criticism? And what’s with the new rules of late? I understand and accept most of them, but there’s quite a few that makes absolutely no sense and just baffles me.

Honestly, this place is starting to feel like a totalitarian state sometimes (think: North Korea). It feels like we're being monitored 24/7 and frankly, spied on. I know you could argue that I can just leave if I don’t like it, but that’s not my point (or intention as of now). I have made friends here and I’d like to stay because of those reasons.

My point is that if you guys – YOU who are running this place. If you aren't open to critique then how the hell will this server ever improve? Instead I feel threatened of getting banned for practically anything I or others say. When people in charge behave like that, you’re just scaring people away, rather than encouraging them to stay. It feels like some of  you “up there” are incredibly desperate, which makes me think that you are aware of the fact that this server is in decline.

However, if you want this place to flourish, because it has a lot of potential, you need start having a good look at yourselves first. Start from the top, and then handle everyone else… because if you keep this up, with some of your attitudes and poor management, other servers will compete you out, and VG will diminish.

No harm intended. I'm just expressing my opinion and I hope you don't delete this post.

After a couple of weeks of raiding we're slowly getting back to our old form!

We are still on the lookout for a couple of dedicated players out there, who are interested in joining us to fill our last open raid slots!

Distilled Wisdom has opened recruitment for most classes, although some of which are about to be closed, and Warrior's are unfortunately full! So take your chance now, and apply at http://distilled-wisdom.shivtr.com/

There is no crying about anything. We did defeat all content after the last update for 3 week running, so I assume we have just been caught in a "loop-hole" of this specific system...

we are still the same players, however some have not returned yet... That is all.

Anyway, clearly this is getting nobody anywhere. We will let our significant "progress" speak for itself. Toodaloo!

Well if this is true, then kill Taddius this week and post a picture (and everyone will agree).

Personally I think you almost impossible to kill Taddius these next few weeks, I advise you to hurry or you may lose forever the rank of the first server.
Stop being so arrogant and understand the fact that this server has been through a LU , further more understand the fact that Lanori stated that other members are missing which were part of the clearing in content before LU.
Its only logical to think that they can and will do the same as soon as the players return which could be this week or the next.None the less.
Not only before the LU - after, too! We cleared the content for several weeks after the LU, before we went on our summer break.

Same thing for equilibrum, we lost all our progress in Naxx after LU (and there is no one complaining about it), until you can prove equibrium is on the top followed by unique aliance with the same dead bosses.
You guys lost your progress after the LU. We (Distilled Wisdom) didn't. inquisitor disbanded. Distilled Wisdom didn't.

I accept the rules of this thread and understand why there's a point to be all anal about it, but I don't necessarily see how that applies to our case.
11  Community / General Chat / Re: Vanilla wow zones on: August 24, 2014, 01:33:11 pm
I necessarily don't think any zone has more lore than the next. Most zones have interesting parts, disbarring a couple, like, Desolace, Stonetalon Mountains and whatnot.

If you're new to vanilla zones you should level with 1x XP rate and just explore as much as you want.

Back when I played vanilla retail (I only played Horde), I mostly went to the same zones grinding up to 60, but sometimes I switched it up.

I think, what I usually did was:
Durotar > Barrens > Ashenvale > Hillsbrad & Alterac Mountains > 1k Needles > STV > Arathi Highlands > STV (again) > Feralas > Hinterlands (got tonnes of quests) > Tanaris > Un'Goro > Aszhara > Felwood > WPL > Winterspring

In essence, when I leveled in retail I just tried to get as many zones in as possible (for the sake of variety). You should do that, too!

There are no rumors here! We went on a break in mid-June, and scheduled to start back up sometime in August. When and how that will happen isn't ironed out yet.

I don't know about you, but farming the same old stuff for months on end, on a poorly managed server like this, gets tedious.

I've played with this guy for quite some time. Got to know him when he joined mine and Evabraun's guild (trauma).

He's a nice guy. Very friendly and helpful. I think those are qualities needed in a GM! He'd be good at it, I'm sure.
