I'm not interested in a GM nor a Developer position on this server. It's too "fishy", right Blondy? =)
2  Staff / GM / Dev Applications / Re: Mink's GM application on: June 01, 2013, 12:21:27 pm

On World of Valhall i played Mink - TF warrior and guildmaster in <Axemen>. Also, I were a GM.
On PreTBC (before it became Project Bugfall) i played an undead rogue called Butters. Also GM.

Funny enough I have the msn˙s of most of the admins from these servers. Can you name someone atleast? For example, who owned Pretbc.com? Smiley Or the co-admins on World of Valhall?

I see you made your own GM application, and are looking to kill any competitors.

Just to top it of I can possible provide screenshots of the paypal i used being Head of Donations.

God speed.
I owned pretbc.com together with Wolfy and Ophie.

Ralph/Darkplayer was the co-admin of World of Valhall, and simply put, the only one.

unless you wanna arrange paid contract, it doesnt need to be a certain number of updates per week..any help would be appreciated

but yes we need new gms also due to current ones slackin and you seem like good candinate, but preferably dev, why not both

You're right, why not both? Well, I might be able to submit updates from time to time but not on a regular basis and not any big updates. Personally I feel like focusing only on the game master role, but I might be able to get something going on connecting them both. If that sounds interesting.

So I was reading through this application because of boredoom and actually came to a point where I could not stand all of your lies any more.

First of all, World of Valhall was my server, a server that I built from the ground together with Darkplayer(Ralph) and I left it with him when I did not have time for anymore coding. My name was Mhage for everyone that can recall. And I can guarantee that you were not, in any way, affiliated with that server AT ALL. I have NEVER heard of you, and you are a complete random.

Second, I was managing pretbc.com (Project Westfall), which pretty much means that I took care of everything community wise, support wise and in-game wise. and you were not a "in-game support GM" and honestly, I don't remember you at all from pretbc.com.

It wouldn't really surprise me if you are lying about more, but it is none of my business. However, having a GM that lies about his or her experience in the area is not a good GM and will never be.

I apologize for bumping a thread like this, but truth should always prevail.

I understand that developers are the people that are most needed by servers, however that's not my wish with my application. I don't feel like I can bring as much to the table as a developer (simply because I cannot take the time to submit fixes everyday), as I would as a game master. If I did have the time to develop, I most definately would.

Thank you all for the nice comments. Proves that the time I put into writing this application actually came to a use :-)

When you live in Australia, it must take a super long time to commute to work. Rofl.

Anyways you seem like a great guy but it seems like you'd be too busy for this.

I still would support you though.
Yeah you'd think so wouldn't you, truth is though that I am able to work over  the internet when I'm away, so no work time will go lost. Submiting development isn't something that necessarily demands an office Smiley

Google image searching your avatar leads me to Gaiaonline.

In case you come from that ****hole I can not take you seriously.

I don't even know what Gaiaonline is :/

Because I always seem to be having a hard time getting my ticket answered. Sometimes I have to wait hours and hours.

You can't have enough GMs.
You're right, I never said you couldn't!

Thanks for the nice words guys :-)

You sure? Because I always seem to be having a hard time getting my ticket answered. Sometimes I have to wait hours and hours.

Hey guys, you might remember me from my development application I sent in for about a year ago, however, I did not have time to do any development so I withdrew it and turned the offer down.

Anyhow, I'm here again, but not interested in a development position, but instead, very much interested in becoming a in-game game master. So first of all, I can tell you that all of the requirements have been met, and here we go with the application!

Q1. What is your main character's in-game name?
My main character is called Bayar.

Q2. What is your real name?
My real name is Ryan.

Q3. Where in the world are you located?
I got three homes actually, and from time to time I move around. My current position is Vasteras, Sweden, where I've lived since December. I also have a home in London, England, which I will move to in the end of summer. And the third home is in Adelaide, Australia, I have no idea when I will go back there.

Q4. What time zone are you located in?
Currently, GMT+1, however my timezone does not restrict me from being online when GMT+1'ers are asleep.

Q5. How old are you?
I am 27 years old, which doesn't really mean that I am mature, but thank god, I think I am.

Q6. Have you played Retail and if so, for how long?
I have most definately played retail. I started back in the Alpha version of WoW, back in 2003 and I kept playing all the way until WotLK, every expansion after WotLK was just rubbish, and not worh dedicating any time in.

Q7. What times exactly can you GM? (Be specific please : Days/Times etc)
Well, since I finished my studies 5 years ago, and work not taking up too much of my freetime, the days that I can GM are not limited. I will be available in-game a couple of times everyday, so I won't miss anything.

Q8. How much time each day do you spend on WoW, on the forums or in-game?
On the forums, not so much, if I become GM and actually have something to do on the forums, a bit more. In-game, I spend several hours, not doing anything really because I unlike leveling, even though it's a lot faster here.

Q9. Have you had previous experience as a Game Master? And if so, on what server, and function?
Experience as a Game Master is something that I have gathered under the years that have passed. I started off GM'ing on a server called World of Valhall, back in 2008, this server was one of the best I have ever played on, and I turned out to be the co-administrator where I was administrating everywhere really, even the development. The second server that I GM'd on was World of Scriptcraft, back in 2011, here I became the Head GM. There has also been some servers inbetween the ones I already listed, but they're not worth mentioning because I simply was just GM'ing on them, and they closed down pretty fast (non-serious projects).

Q10. Tell us a little about yourself.
Well, there's not much to know really, I live a simple life with my wife and my son. I'm originally from Leeds, England where I grew up and went to school. I got into Oxford, where I studied Science for about 4 years. I graduated with a Diploma in Science back in 2010. I work at a company called Dice, where I work with development. Dice is a big company, perhaps you''ve heard of it, they created Battlefield(however this is not a project that I work on). I love to travel, especially to warm countries. I am a Manchester United enthusiast, and will probably never stop supporting that club. I love dogs.

Q11. Explain why you think you would be a good GM.
I think I'd be a great asset to the team, I can provide people with the assistance that they require, and I have years of experience that will support that point. I know everything about the whole area, GM'ing, that is.

Q12. What interests you most about the GM position?
Honestly, just being lazy, sitting still somewhere, answering tickets, taking it relaxed and easy, listening to some good music and just do what I like doing, help people, make people feel better by solving their problems and making their gameplay a lot easier.

Q13. What positive additions could you (or do you already) make to the server/Community?
Currently, I don't do anything for the community, nor the server. I want this to change, because I like you people too much to not do anything for you. I can bring an great asset to the team, I love humour and will most definately bring some onto the table. I will support people in any way that I can, and I will most likely make you a Manchester United enthusiast. :-)

Q14. We require all GM's to act professional at all times, this includes proper spelling and grammar.[We will not accept you if you have a lack of proper spelling and grammar]
Proper spelling and grammar shouldn't be an issue, I have sufficient experience speaking and writing english from my earlier years in England and Australia.

Q15. If you were going to submit a suggestion for us, what would it be?
Well, when I was leveling my mage I kept blinking through the ground which made me aggrevated, having to ressurect at the spirit healer and having to put out with ressurection sickness. If you could fix that blink, that would be amazing. Another suggestion could be to disable the 'epic donation rewards' that you can acquire, mostly because I am against donation rewards in all ways other than cosmetic items such as tabards and pets/mounts.

Q16. Events can get out of control, how would you pull a situation under control if it went bad?
Warnings should be delievered to the people creating the bad situations, if they do not stop, consequences will happen. However, I am not a man that enjoys punishment. If we can all get to an agreement where bad situations will never be created again, we can all just move along.

Q17. What do you think is the most important thing a GM can do?
A GM's role is to assist people in-game, answer the tickets submitted and fix the problems that have arisen, nothing more, nothing less.

Q18. Do you know WHAT a gm does? Please explain.
I most certainly know what GM does, and I'm pretty sure that I just answered it in the question above. A GM's job is to assist people, help them with their needs and smoothen out the gameplay for the players.

Q19a. What will you do if a Player asked you for help?
I would never not agree to help people that needs assistance.

Q19b. And when you don't have time to help him?
Time can always be made and help can always be delivered.

Q20. What can you do to help the server grow?
I can be a supportive helper in-game, perhaps people will enjoy my assistance, maybe they will tell their friends that VanillaGaming has the best support system in the vanilla world. :-)

All the best to you all
Cheers, Fawkes.

Well it's nice to see that you like the community and all, but you should get some experience. For example you haven't mentioned a single thing about GM commands which is basically the tool for a GM.
The .command typo tells you pretty much about every command you can use anyways.

Back on topic; I can't give you a +1 because I feel like we need more GM's from other places in the world such as the US and Australia. Other than that I did like what you wrote and the fact that you're a starwars fan makes me overjoyed, therefore I will be giving you a +. Good luck!

I am personally looking forward to this expansion tons. Really beautiful environment and I can't tell you the joy that I feel now when I know that they will bring pandas' into World of Warcraft.

I will definately play this game when it gets released.
14  Staff / GM / Dev Applications / Hey I'm Fawkes...[Developer] on: May 20, 2012, 11:44:58 am
and I would love to work side by side with you. I've followed your project for a while but never thought of actually asking you if I can work with you.

My name is Ryan. I have a great passion for emulators, such as server emulators, console emulators, and well, all kinds of it. I love programming, I love communities and I love to work.

I have a great knowledge in people management, C++, C#, PHP, HTML3-4-5, MySQL, JAVA, Flash and a lot more. I worked as a teacher in programming studies at a university degree back in 2008. I also worked as a website "professor" with high school students in 2010. I also did C++ lab programming back in 2011. Right now I'm the manager for a swedish game company called DICE(EA Digital Illusions CE), perhaps you know about them? They created the game we all know as Battlefield. I'm handling the people management aswell as marketing for them.

I'm 26 years old, I was born in France - moved to England when I was 8 and thereafter I moved to Australia last year. I'm not gonna stay in Australia for much longer though because it's a shithole, except the beaches, I love the beaches. I'll move back to England in january next year.

What I would love to do for you is management. I know that you can handle the development and I know that you have a few people working on it already so I don't really see why I would be needed in that section of your project, but I'd love to handle the players on the forums, the marketing and well, just manage the whole thing, bringing ideas and other things on the forums aswell as being your very best friend. Although if you actually need more people developing, just drop me a PM and I'd be happy to. So what do you say?

Do you have room for a very competent person? A person that loves working and a person that just adores you as a person(from what I've seen from last year)?

I would love to hear back from you.

Best and much kindly regards
Fawkes, or Ryan, or Buster - I've always loved the name Buster.
