Sounds like quite some fun, but how exciting can a race be when everyone is going to same speed? ^^

You are gonna run quite far, and you can only imagine how many people that will run around and gank small gnomes. Smiley It'll get hard.
32  Community / Events / Event: Level 1 Gnome Race May 23 on: May 23, 2012, 12:36:18 am
The topic states the event pretty good. It's a race for level 1 gnomes, from Dun Morogh to a secret destination that will be told when the event starts. The event starts at 17:00 server-time.

- At the start, you must be level 1
- If possible, please name your Gnome with the prefix of "Mini" and your main character's name such as "Minipuberty".
- Beeing summoned is not allowed, you have to run all the way
- If you die, you can ress at the spirit resser
- You are not allowed to spam the chat, you can yell out useless crap, as long as you dont do it three times in a row
- Not allowed to be escorted by a hunter
- No potions
- No enchants
- No rocket boots
- You have to be a part of the guild that is created
- Have to be in one of the official raids

Most of the people here are either OP geared either naked, so how you'll balance the fight there ,when for example i can go there overhealing everything and win an pointless event (my OWN opinion) just because my enemy's were weak.
You got great experience and i belieave you, but,how you will deal with people who "hate" and "troll"? If you kick them people will see you as a bad GM and mostly when you'll try and Host events you'll be ignored and most of the time insulted and so on.

If you mute them or bann them, they'll quit the server and on this server that's not what we need.
If you can reply me how you'll make people learn to respect the community of VannilaGaming i'll help you in any way i can if you'll need any assistence. This Post was only about some questions and wasn't trying to insult you, make you feel bad or asking about your intelligence level, just for my own opinion.

Thanks for the reply. First of all, I'm not thinking about just doing PvP-events where gear can carry people. There will be alot of other cool events, as I stated in the application as well. Though, on the pvp-events there isn't much I can do about bad-geared people. Getting rank 14 on this server takes a few weeks, so the gear shouldn't be a big problem. I'd say Rank 14 gear is equal to BWL atleast, if not even better.

I don't agree with you considering the "trolls" will quit the server if they get portet out of an event they are trying to troll. The trolls know who they are, and the consequences for trolling. Unfortunately, this is a good thing for the trolls. If they get mutet, ported away, they get noticed which is the whole point. Same with "haters", all they want is fame. They won't quit for beeing sent away from an event.

You should try to bind some of your abilities. It helps.

Oh, stupid me. Anyways, it's good to advertise mouseover healing even more!

Some of you already know what mouseover healing, or mouseover in general is in game. If you don't, I'll give a short introduction. When you cast a spell (Can be any spell), you will cast it on the person your mouse-cursor is on. Either it's the character itself or any raid/party frames. It's mostly used by healers, but some players use it for damage / crowd control spells as well.

Why on earth would I use mouseover stuff?
One simple answer to that. It's better, it's faster and it's easier. When you get used to it, you will _guaranteed_ notice some increase HPS (Healing per second).

This originally didn't work back in 1.12, as far as i'm concerned, but "Vallan" from WoW-one forum made an addon for this to be available for 1.12 clients. You can read the post here.

You can watch a Youtube-movie about Mouseover healing here. Don't mind what he says about macros etc, since the addon have it's own way. Though, you can watch the movie to get the idea how Mouseover healing works in general.

I have been a member for 1 month or more - Check
I am 18 years old or more - Check
I can be online at least 3 hours a day - Check

What is your main character's in-game name?

What is your real name?
Kenneth Johansen.

Where in the world are you located?
Oslo, Norway.

What time zone are you located in?
GMT+1 originally, GMT+2 in the summer.

How old are you?
20 years old.

Have you played Retail and if so, for how long?
I started my World of Warcraft career back when it first launched in Europe. I started playing on Burning Blade. Been active ever since.

What times exactly can you GM?
Now with summer comming up, this is hard to answer specific. I will be available most days, but when I'm back to school (August) it should be between 19:00 - 02:00 on weekdays and the entire weekend.

How much time each day do you spend on WoW, on the forums or in-game?
Basicly, if I'm at home I should be online at WoW. Checking forums daily, both, but also several others. Some WoW-related, some aren't.

Have you had previous experience as a Game Master? And if so, on what server, and function?
Years, years back. I can't recall any commands, but I did organize PvP-events. I have no clue what the server was called, since this is years back.

Tell us a little about yourself.
20 year old lad that lives in Oslo, Norway. Studying International Marketing at the prestigious Management School of Economics and Management in Oslo. Also have a part-time job at a local store in Oslo, and takes some shifts at the kindergarden as well. I've always liked beeing behind the scenes, and organize things rather than playing the games myself. Probably because of my lack in gaming skills in general.
As for the organizing things. I am a part-owner of the Norwegian E-Sport organization BX3, which you can visit at our homesite BX3 . ESPORTS is our own teams, and news about those. BX3 . ARENA is where we host our tournaments in some of the most popular games in Scandinavia. BX3 . TV will be our place for streaming. You can note that I am the Game Chief in the second biggest LAN in Norway.

Explain why you think you would be a good GM.
I take these things very seriously. Great experience in both hosting tournaments and organizing both employeers and players. Been playing WoW actively since its release, both as a hardcore raider and a casual raider. So my knowledge about the game in general is huge. Belive i'm highly respected by the norwegian gamers, and I belive that is what drives me to continue doing such things. If people like what I do, I'll keep on doing it.

What interests you most about the GM position?
What interests me the most is events, which my main focus will be at. I belive that events is a key to keep players on the server. Not only is it something else than just jumping around in a major city, but hell, it's fun as well! I am used to answer people, both serious and less serious questions. It sounds quite rubbish, but I love doing the boring work.

What positive additions could you (or do you already) make to the server/Community?
As mentioned in the previous question, the main reason I'm applying for this position is to host events. Years of experience of doing it, and I still love doing it. I am talking about events such as PvP events (1v1 - 5v5, horde vs. alliance, last man standing etc), and other events such as hide and seek, treasure hunt, level 1 race etc.

We require all GM's to act professional at all times, this includes proper spelling and grammar.
Its up to you to judge if I'm capable or not.

If you were going to submit a suggestion for us, what would it be?
Donation suggestions:
Casual: 60 starter pack. Includes bags, 500 golds, full blue set / armor. 25 euro.
Hardcore: 60 starter pack. Includes bags, 1200 golds, full epic set / armor. 60 euro.
Namechange: Name change. 20 euro.
Reroll: Reroll a character. 35 euro.

Events can get out of control, how would you pull a situation under control if it went bad?
With my previous experience in arranging tournaments, I am used to be in charge of both serious and unserious participants. The key is to be calm, and don't get frustrated. The question itself is very hard to answer, because it's all about the situation and the crowd. I have a golden rule, as long as you do what you're told, you'll be fine. However, if you can't listen, you will be ported away. No point wasting time on people trying to be hard on you. Tell people what to do, if they do not follow your orders, they are disqualified. Stay calm. Do not, under any circumastance, rage. If you rage, you're screwed.

What do you think is the most important thing a GM can do?
Without a doubt, act profesional at all times.

Do you know WHAT a gm does? Please explain.
A gamemaster is representing the whole server. He is assisting players in need of help, either it is questions about the server, community, the game itself or anything else that comes in mind. If the gamemaster personally can't answer, he will ask for further assistant. Treating the players with respect is important to keep them on the server.

What will you do if a Player asked you for help?
I would help him as much as I could. If my knowledge or power wouldn't help him, I'd ask for help from someone with more knowledge or power than me. It is not rocket science.

And when you don't have time to help him?
If I don't have time, I wouldn't have answered the ticket in the first place. If we're talking about regular whispers, I'd tell him the truth and told him to create a ticket so that someone else can assist him.

What can you do to help the server grow?
Helping the community to stay strong with weekly (hopefully, daily) events. Other than that, just remind people to vote for the server and recommend it to friends if they like playing here. After solving a ticket could be a good time to say remind people those things.
