Title: Will VG survive this summer?
Post by: Draub on March 27, 2018, 09:37:21 pm
Hello guys as you can probably know the summer is coming ^^  it's end of march and horde has disappeared of the map left with one guild raiding.
I know VG always go down during the summer, but this time doesn't look good saying this as i am playing here from rly long time.
Also not to forget to mention it's nearly one year anniversary of the announcement of the "CORE TRANSITION"
which now seem as one big lie as nobody ever respond to our questions or give anything close to ETA about it and not even give ppl some hope things will get better.
Can staff at least for once answer our questions  and tell us what is been done or planned to save VG because we're
slowly dying and if noting change as soon Blizz server comes out  i'm afraid that will be the end...

I've only been here about a year and a half, but from what I understand people been asking this question every year since VG was created, but once Summer ends, the server is still here. Every year.

That being said, stagnation has been a huge issue here. There's no point in dedicating time and effort to a server where the only sign of improvements are the words of server management which seem to grow hollower by the day.

So will we survive the Summer? Probably. Will people continue to leave for servers with larger populations and staff that work to actively grow and improve the server? Absolutely.

VG is not broke. VG is working perfectly as designed.

so much so they turn down free computer nerds that volunteer to fix stuff. So this was obviously designed this way.

Pretty much. We all seen the interest from those who wanted to help, but never seen the VG administration taking that help.

I wondered why no one comes to play here when I started. after being here for roughly a year, I can see why. people just come, play a little. see how broken the server is > leave. most people here are those that been here a very long time with tons of chars. the 15x was the only thing that kept me here. but with all the probs on vg, it's not really worth it to stick around.

Core transition will come. Most likely before summer we will have period of intense work to get it done. Sooner or later, most likely sooner. When that period starts things will go foward fast, as before. As before when people have been posting similar topics every spring, History has well proven vgs not going anywhere.

Concerning people (developers) offering to do some programming for vG, we have contacted and reviewed every candinate that has done so. Sadly everytime it has been either that the person has not had any understanding of the core framework, which makes it impossible for him to do any work without being taught, thus we've sent those guys to check out the mangos documentation which is perfect for learning, and they.ve never came back. Then there are couple of cases where we even tried to hire people from other sources, either ending up with the same result or that the guy didn't live up to normal working ethiques (for example, constructive criticism from other developers(from Zeard to another c++ programmer) and ragequitted themselves.

If a programmer who knows what his doing with the wow emulation architecture based on mangos stumbles upon our way, we will hire him, that is a fact. Ive spent my time posting ads everywhere and reviewing candinates, and currently im having a break from it because for years it yielded no results. If anyone knows someone, refer them to us. Thank you.

im calling bullshit, and im not even getting personal, last year at this time horde had 6 raiding guilds, beta, amw, dp, chaos, invoke, and one that i cant think of the name of ( some lock got mad and left AMW and started his own guild) they now literally have 1 naxx tier raiding guild (no offence AMW, i got much love you all know that) im honestly going to say something that needs to be said, for the good of the server some of you need reroll to horde. (currently only 24 level 60s online on horde as im typing this)
EDIT: inb4 "who cares about horde anyway" this game is designed around having 2 separate factions, almost like a symbiosis in which both factions benefit from each other, if one dies, they doth die.
