Title: Hunter talent specs
Post by: M00rth on July 27, 2014, 10:27:20 pm
Hi, this is a topic for hunter talent specs.

- Basic Beast Mastery spec for leveling:

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cE000xgRtxVoZIh

- Marksmanship PvE spec (also good for PvP):

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cxZxiohthtcbVmo

- Marksmanship PvE surefooted spec:

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cbZxEo0thtcbVV0h

- Survival PvP spec:

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cZxqohxZcbVfRhut

Does anybody have any other interesting specs? :)

I use this one:

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#ci0h0xxZEVo0tht

I love the huge crit rate, and the fact that my pet won't be killed 5 seconds into the fight and can actually provide some DPS.

I'm currently trying this.

I see a few major and many minor flaws in each spec you posted. Here are the proper versions in my opinion. I also included a few extras.

BM Levelling  - http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cx0GdxxktqVohx

Marks cookie cutter (my least favourite) - http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cxZiVohthtf0fmo

Marks raid spec (if you lack +hit) - http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cbZiVohthtILbboh

BM/Marks hybrid (#1 dps spec) - http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cE000xxZiVohtht

Survival PVP - http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cZtVohtZcbiik0ux

BM/MM PVP (scatter+intim for more control, good spec if you lack gear) - http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cxV0zxLoZgVohthx

Survival pve. (Top dps, req hit cap and 480+ unbuffed agi) http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cZqVohxoZI0VwRMhx
BM PVP(Run this with an owl = GG casters.) http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#ci0hzggRtxVohZc
Survival WS PVP : http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cbZxVohZciViR0ut

Edit by Sinker: Your 2nd link wasn't working due to being linked with the " ) " - Fixed that.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good spec?
I am getting good results from it, but would like an expert opinion

Drop arcane shot. It can be resisted and does sub-par damage compared to aimed shot.
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cx0G0xxZVAohxht would be a better build. If you're adamant about dragon / humanoid slaying then drop points from beast mastery.

BM/Marks PvP spec (currently using this): http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cxV00xxoZxqohtZcbm

Best PvP spec for me because you have intimidation, scatter shot and imp wing clip.

Why aspect of the monkey? Wouldn't http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cg0h0xxoZxqohtZcbm be better? Harder for people to kill your pet.

I mostly do duels, and Aspect of the Monkey helps me against getting raped by paladins :p

But a higher dodge chance can be very useful in other cases too.

If you'd want to make it harder for people to kill your pet, I would suggest spending all 5 points on Endurance Training.

The talents in the second and  third tiers of the Survival tree can be swapped (e.g Deterrence as a complement to scatter shot if u tend to draw aggro, or undue mob attention... "L2Hunt Noob"), the idea is to get surefooted 3/3 here so u have an easier time with gear while being hitcapped. The 2 remaining points are floaters and depends on playstyle (e.g Improved Aspect of the Hawk.)

Why I did not put points in BM is because a hunter is more valuable than his pet in a raid, and the raid won't generally give a buck about your pet, unless the fight to go is really a long one. Going 5/5 or less Improved Hunter's mark points are also a matter of personal choice.

If your gear is dripping with +hit, you can also skip the surefooted talents and go 5/5 Improved Aspect of the Hawk and if you are at ease with the 30% attack speed bonus + rotation.

The reason why I still put emphasis on Surefooted 3/3 is for you to be comfortable with swap gear around when it comes to raiding equipment. I still recommend Improved Traps 2/2 since you will be asked to trap in many raids, e.g Packs in BWL, Imps in MC...

Remember, there is no absolute raiding spec. Until you have 480+ unbuffed agility and decide to try a Survival PVE spec (which I do not recommend for now), a Marksman build with maximised raid utility will get you a looong way into the game.

BM "tanking" - for leveling :
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#ci0h0xgRtVyo0x

BM "DPS" - so everyone insults you:
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cE00ztgotVyo0x

BM "PVP" - try not to die that much:
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cV0GztgotxZci0V

only did BM because no one ever really tries that hard to use it.
"easy mode", as the name says, is what everyone prefers because "big numbers"... :)
and those speccs are all over this topic (which is as dead as an undead).

talking abut BM speccs, not the "good one".

the one m@rm uses is good too. the chances you have to dodge are bigger than using 2 stuns in a row as hunter. I think. :)

Bestial doesn't work and your pet is having the same speed as you. You can for example abuse and send the pet while mounted and it will chase down any player.
5/5 in RWS and 0 in humanoid slaying is retarded.
Frenzy is broken on this server and can proc on non crits. 1 pt in that talent is huge when you got a pet with fast atk speed and claw+bite.
Imp hawk is awesome if you stand still, but after the pet nerf I find stam more worth.

the chances you have to dodge are bigger than using 2 stuns in a row as hunter. I think. :)
No way you can kill a geared healer without 2 stuns sadly.

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cV0GbxxRogVohth is what I use, sure you can swap around some talents in the 2 first BM tiers.

well, the speccs I presented are not "server tunned", meaning, they assume everything works as it should (mother of all fuck ups).

glad to know those particularities since I didn't had time to try them all live yet (thinking about raising a full BM specc one just for my multiboxing fun - I use it to try all strange speccs I can remember of).

idek 1 hunter here who can actually play spec proper tho so
u dont even need proper spec as long as u pick up intim and scatter its gg, only job in bg is to peel/track anyway so, not fucking sit mid trap try 1shot with aimed lol
skill lvl here is still dumb vanilla mindset

Title: Re: Hunter talent specs
Post by: ohkillem on November 10, 2016, 05:00:11 pm
if your gear is dog and your skill is cat then http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cE0h0xxRoxqohth will work if u grab like BT and have claw on spam vs a lot of casters, but imo improved wingclip is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better for pvp that its almost required. IMO what kills a hunter most time in pvp is not the casters (maybe locks is an exception) but melees, and being able to immobilize them and get some distance is a MAJOR KEY ALERT

Title: Re: Hunter talent specs

thats why I thought of dodge instead. I guess it depends on play style and which class gives you more trouble in pvp.

imp wc pros ur still in hamstring/crip for 8 sec or whatever u gonna still got caught and slain unless remedy/resto pots/trink etc so rly cons are key to win for all class)

5 seconds to move, w8 for immobilize to end, scatter, and get in concussion range, aspect away
