This is the one I use and it's working perfectly (OS X 10.9.2).

After downloading edit realmlist.wtf with Textedit and replace the content with the following:

Set Realmlist Logon.vanillagaming.org

Execute World of Warcraft.app (You probably don't see the file extension though. I am sure you'll find it).

I've never been on a private server, and I'm super excited about my character the Vanilla Gaming realm :-) I personally always loved leveling up, I leveled 6 characters up to 60 on vanilla and some of my best memories in the game were just doing the quests and 5 man content that cover the spread of the game from 15-60. I felt that all the changes they made post WOTLK ruined the leveling experience and haven't started a new toon since then ...

I started up my character on a few days ago and I can't wait to execute this command. The sooner the better, I actually started playing less because I was frustrated at how fast it was all going by. Right now I'm doing grey quests and killing mobs that give no exp because I want read the quests again, see the lore, re-learn the spells, get used to my keybinds and UI, but it's just not as fun when you're killing things 15 levels lower than you :-/

Now, I totally understand the desire for 15x, esp if it's your 33rd character, or a class you played for years, or you just want to raid. I think this update is the best for everyone, and as to the default  ... I don't really care but I'd add a snippet in the "Getting Started guide" on how to choose your exp rate so that new players are aware of it.

Once again, Very much looking forward to this implementation!! it may be what keeps me or loses me as a player in this community because I'd like to level up a number of characters to play through all the different starting zones...

Make an application mate,it might help you a bit more .

Will do as soon I am familiar with C++ programming. I wanted to learn it anyway for quite some time now.

I am a developer and I am somewhat interested. Altough I never did game programming especially not WoW. Is that a requirement or do you teach what is important to know? I never programmed in C++ too, but I know how to program in C, C# and Java. I also know how to handle databases like SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL. I program for living since 4 years. I use C#, SQL Server and XML at work mostly, and also know web related stuff like ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and so on.
Thing is I never programmed in C++ before. But you said education is what I could get out of this. Programming is nothing new to me and I am always eager to learn something new. I could learn C++ if you would show me how to apply those tools to WoW later on.
